Our orienteering sessions are tailored to your group’s goals and experience level. To give you a sense of what the day might involve, here’s what you can expect:

- Learn the skills you’ll need: map reading, compass use, pacing, route choice, and understanding terrain features.
- Head out on your orienteering course, where you’ll work as individuals or in teams to navigate between checkpoints.
- Support throughout—our instructor will be nearby, offering advice, encouragement, and ensuring everyone feels confident and safe.
- We’ll take photos throughout the day and send them to you free of charge so you can remember your adventure.
We’ll go at a pace that suits you, and we’re always happy to adapt the session to match the preferences and confidence of your group.

Booked an individual climbing session for my grandson aged 14 ( with his grandfather) with Steffan. It was great for his self confidence and he will definitely continue with this activity. We would come back to Wales specifically for Steffan.
Excellent instruction and tuition from Steffan for four ‘apprehensive’ climbers. Steffan was very patient and calming showing us the ‘ropes’. Would definitely recommend.
We had a great full day of activities with Hawk Adventure and had Steve as our guide. We started in the morning with rock climbing and abseiling which was a great fun, and Steve made us feel at ease with his expertise.

The Brecon Beacons National Park
For a truly immersive navigation challenge, we use varied terrain across the Brecon Beacons—think open moorland, forest trails, and hillside tracks. It’s ideal for developing real-world map skills in a wild yet supportive environment.
Our favourite spots include Garwnant (with its established trail network and facilities) and Craig y Nos Country Park, perfect for combining open space with gentle woodland paths.

South Wales Coastal Areas
If you’re after sea views with your compass work, our coastal orienteering sessions offer something different. Navigate through dune systems, clifftop paths, and coastal trails where the changing landscape adds a fresh twist to each challenge.
Mumbles is a popular choice for its dramatic scenery, accessible routes, and fun, engaging terrain.

Bespoke Locations

It’s ideal for schools, youth groups, or organisations looking for on-site enrichment with minimal travel.
Wherever your session takes place, we’ll make sure it’s engaging, safe, and tailored to your group.

You’ll cover more advanced techniques including bearings, route planning, poor visibility navigation, and more.

Not at all! Our orienteering sessions are designed to suit all levels. Whether you’re completely new to navigation or already familiar with maps and compasses, we’ll tailor the experience to your ability.
This depends on the course, the group, and whether you book a half-day or full-day session. Typically, you might cover between 3–8km, but the focus is on navigation, not distance or speed.
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear—ideally walking boots or good trainers. Bring a waterproof layer, water, and any personal medication. We provide all navigation equipment, including maps and compasses.
